Dan Kanfoush started racing in the 2.5 stock class in 1991 with a boat he built himself, in 1993 he built another boat that he campaigned primarily in CBF from 1993 to 1999. This boat became very competitive but Dan’s career took off in 2000 when he purchased an Auld kit boat, which he assembled himself. He went on to win 3 CBF and 3 APBA championships with this hull in the 2.5 stock class.

In 2005 he sold his equipment and teamed up with Jim Sechler in the 1.0 Litter Modified class. They built a new Henderson kit hull in 2006 and have been very successful in the class, they hold all the closed course class records. In 2006 they never lost a heat. The team is currently going for their 4th consecutive APBA National championship.

"The Kilo is THE hardest thing that I have ever done in a boat and the scariest.  The boat did not touch the water on the first pass.  Imagine entering the trap the fastest your boat has ever gone at the end of the backstretch at Yelm or Rockyfork, and then hold the throttle wide open for another 20 seconds....Yes 20 seconds as the boat continues to pick up speed. Then if that isn't enough, they want you to turn around and do it again!  On the second pass,  it slowly oscillated and touched the left sponson a few times.  I took some wing OUT of it at mid course to make it stop that.....Eeeakk!"
